Key points

  • The Milwaukee Brewers get a second chance to win their first World Series title tonight.
  • Milwaukee leads the series 3-1.
  • Tampa Bay forced this game with a 4-3 win in 12 innings on Tuesday, October 27.

The Milwaukee Brewers get a second chance to win their first World Series title tonight. Game 5 against the Tampa Bay Rays starts at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, October 28 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, and it airs on FOX with streaming on Fubo.

Milwaukee leads the series 3-1. One more win makes the Brewers champions for the first time in franchise history. A Tampa Bay win sends the series back to Milwaukee and keeps the Rays alive for their own first title.

How Game 4 changed the night

Tampa Bay forced this game with a 4-3 win in 12 innings on Tuesday, October 27. Cooper Pratt homered to left-center in the top of the 12th and the sweep looked close. The Rays answered in the bottom of the inning. Junior Caminero reached on a throwing error, and Jonny DeLuca and Ben Williamson drove in the final two runs to end it.

The loss was Milwaukee's first of the series after wins of 3-2, 5-4 and 10-1 in the opening three games.

Time, TV and streaming

First pitch is 8 p.m. ET, which is 7 p.m. CT and 5 p.m. PT. FOX carries the game nationally. Cord cutters can stream it on Fubo, and FOX One subscribers can watch through the FOX app. In the Milwaukee market, FOX6 carries the game with local coverage running through the day and two hours of postgame reaction planned.

Joe Davis and John Smoltz call the game from the booth for FOX, with Ken Rosenthal and Tom Verducci reporting from the dugouts.

What is at stake

Neither club has ever won the World Series. Milwaukee won a franchise record 103 games in the regular season and is in the Fall Classic for the second time in team history, after the 1982 club lost in seven games. Tampa Bay won an American League best 98 games and is in its third World Series, after losses in 2008 and 2020.

If the Rays win tonight, Game 6 is Friday, October 30 in Milwaukee and Game 7, if needed, is Saturday, October 31, also in Milwaukee. Both start at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
