A federal court in San Antonio has sentenced Alfredo Landin, 28, to 190 months in prison for conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas announced. The sentence is more than 15 years.

Landin, also known as Fredo, imported large amounts of methamphetamine, which he called candy, from Mexico and distributed it to numerous dealers in the San Antonio area, according to court documents. He arranged for drivers to deliver 10 or more kilograms of narcotics at a time, carried in hidden compartments, the Justice Department said.

A shipment stopped in Indian Creek

On July 19, 2021, agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Texas Department of Public Safety found about eight kilograms of methamphetamine and 3.5 kilograms of heroin in a car that was on its way to drop the narcotics off to Landin in Indian Creek, according to the Justice Department. The load never reached him.

Landin was arrested on April 19, 2024, and pleaded guilty on March 4, 2025, the department said. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Yuen prosecuted the case.

Sentence runs alongside a second case

In June, Landin was sentenced to 151 months in prison in a separate case in which he also pleaded guilty to trafficking methamphetamine. The Justice Department said the new 190 month sentence will run concurrent with that sentence, which Simmons described as another 12 and a half year sentence Landin is already serving.

"Alfredo Landin was responsible for importing large amounts of methamphetamine and heroin from Mexico to exploit our communities for financial gain," Simmons said. "Thanks to the tireless efforts of our DEA and DPS partners, we were able to interdict a large shipment of narcotics just before it was delivered to Landin, who will now spend more than 15 years in federal prison concurrent with another 12 and a half year sentence he is already serving."

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the case, the Justice Department said.

For San Antonio, the case closes a supply line that prosecutors say moved methamphetamine by the multi kilogram load into local dealing networks. With the sentence imposed, Landin will serve his time in federal prison on both cases together rather than one after the other.
