Olivia Chow won Toronto's mayoral election on Monday, October 26, 2026, fending off Brad Bradford to earn a second term. The CP24 and CTV Election Desk projected Chow re-elected, and CBC reported her win.

Unofficial City of Toronto results with 98.11 percent reporting as of 10:02 p.m. EDT on October 26 put Chow on 522,139 votes, or 54.15 percent, and Bradford on 396,558 votes, or 41.13 percent. With 98.4 percent of polls reporting, Chow led Bradford by 125,367 votes, the CP24 and CTV Election Desk projection reported. Global News reported unofficial results showed Chow ahead of Bradford and 50 other mayoral candidates, with 54 percent of the vote as of 11 p.m. ET to Bradford's 41 percent. There were 53 names on the ballot in total.

At her election night headquarters, Chow told supporters: "Every person who calls Toronto home, whatever your background, whatever you believe, whoever you love, wherever you live. I will listen to you." She added: "I will listen to you. I will stand up for you, and I will work every day to earn your trust because that's what being mayor means to me, it means serving everyone."

A first full term after a truncated first term

The win gives Chow her first full four year term. Her 2023 byelection victory gave her a truncated three years after John Tory resigned. She was first elected on June 26, 2023, with 37 percent of the vote against Ana Bailao on 33 percent.

What the two campaigns promised

Bradford campaigned on affordability and safety, promising a property tax freeze, hiring more police and a line by line audit of city finances. Chow anchored her pitch on expanding affordable housing and funding a city wide school lunch program, and warned Bradford's tax freeze math did not add up without cutting services. Former federal cabinet minister Chris Alexander dropped out on October 6, turning the race into a head to head contest.

Bradford improved sharply on his 2023 byelection result, when he finished eighth with just over 9,200 votes, or 1.2 percent. His loss means he will be outside council for the first time since he was first elected in Beaches-East York in 2018.

What happens next

City council next meets in November to swear in the winning candidates and set up committees. Chow pledged to bring a motion in December to kickstart the next round of her rental housing incentive program.

Toronto is Canada's largest city, and the result gives Chow a full term to carry out the housing and school lunch plans she campaigned on, while Bradford leaves council after a campaign that took him from 1.2 percent in 2023 to 41.13 percent in 2026.
