The Minnesota Wild beat the Seattle Kraken 5-1 on Saturday night at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, scoring three unanswered goals in the second period. Kirill Kaprizov scored his NHL leading 12th goal of the season 26 seconds into the game and added an assist. Blake Coleman scored twice for Minnesota, and goaltender Jesper Wallstedt made 22 saves.

Kaprizov scores in the first minute

Kaprizov opened the scoring on a breakaway just 26 seconds into the game, putting a backhander over Seattle goaltender Joey Daccord. The goal was his 12th of the season, the highest total in the NHL. Seattle answered at 10:13 of the first period, when Berkly Catton scored one second after a power play expired. NHL.com reported that the goal was the third of the season for Catton and Seattle's early bright spot in the game. The first period ended 1-1.

Three unanswered goals in the second

Minnesota took control in the second period. Coleman scored on a breakaway at 2:11, Olli Maatta made it 3-1 at 11:33, and Joel Eriksson Ek scored at 13:00. The three goals came in a span of 10 minutes and 49 seconds, and Seattle did not answer any of them. Eriksson Ek finished the night with a goal and an assist. Coleman added his second goal on an empty net with 3:36 remaining in the third period, completing the 5-1 score. The period scores were 1-1, 3-0 and 1-0.

Wallstedt holds Seattle to one

Wallstedt stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced for Minnesota. Daccord stopped 31 of 35 shots for Seattle. With the empty net goal counted, Minnesota finished with 36 shots on goal to Seattle's 23. Minnesota snapped a two game losing streak with the win. Minnesota improved to 7-3 with the result, and Seattle fell to 7-4.

McCann misses the game

Seattle played without forward Jared McCann. Team officials said McCann is still being evaluated for a lower body injury he sustained on Thursday against Utah. Without McCann, Seattle scored once in the first period and did not score again, as Minnesota's three goal second period decided the game.

Minnesota's five goals came from four scorers, with Coleman the only player to score twice. Minnesota scored in all three periods, once in the first, three times in the second and once in the third. The result gave Minnesota a 5-1 road win in Seattle.
