The Utah Mammoth beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-4 in overtime on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. Dmitri Simashev scored the winning goal at 1 minute and 44 seconds of overtime, on a pass from Barrett Hayton, to give Utah the win.

The night held two firsts that will stay in the record books for different reasons. Simashev scored the first two goals of his career in the same game, and Nikita Kucherov collected his 1,138th career point for Tampa Bay, passing Steven Stamkos for the franchise record.

Simashev ties it, then wins it

Tampa Bay led 3-2 after the first period and moved ahead 4-2 in the second period when Conor Geekie scored at 5 minutes and 32 seconds of the second. Utah scored twice in the second period to tie the game at 4-4, and Simashev scored the tying goal with 2 minutes and 28 seconds left in the period. It was the first goal of his career.

No team scored in the third period, so the game went to overtime tied at 4-4. Simashev scored again at 1:44 of overtime for the winner, his second goal of the night and the second of his career. Utah goaltender Karel Vejmelka, who made 29 saves, earned the secondary assist on the overtime winner.

The other Utah goals came from Kailer Yamamoto, Dylan Guenther and Anders Lee. Vincent Trocheck had two assists for Utah.

Kucherov passes Stamkos at 1,138 points

Kucherov set the Tampa Bay record in the first period. He collected an assist on a power play goal by Brayden Point, and that point, with 7 minutes and 18 seconds left in the first period, put Tampa Bay ahead 3-1 and took Kucherov to 1,138 career points. Stamkos held the previous record at 1,137 points.

Stamkos had held the franchise record since April 2022. Kucherov has played his entire career with Tampa Bay, starting in 2013, and he now stands one point ahead of Stamkos at the top of the Lightning list. Both Reuters and the Associated Press reported the record on the night.

Tampa Bay also got goals from Pontus Holmberg and Conor Geekie, in addition to the goal by Point. Tampa Bay played without its captain, Victor Hedman. Dennis Hildeby made 23 saves for Tampa Bay in the second half of a back to back set.

Records and next games

Utah moved to 8-4 with the win, and Tampa Bay fell to 7-3 with the overtime loss. The result gave Utah a win built on a comeback from 4-2 down in the second period, two goals from a player who had not scored before in his career, and 29 saves from Vejmelka.

Utah hosts Minnesota on Tuesday in its next game. Tampa Bay hosts Winnipeg on Thursday.
