UN Inquiry Says Israel Continued Genocide in Gaza After Ceasefire, Israel Rejects Report
A UN commission report published on Monday said Israel kept committing genocidal acts after last October's ceasefire and committed war crimes in Gaza and the West Bank. Israel dismissed the report as misinformation and called for the commission to be dissolved.

A United Nations commission said in a report published on Monday that Israel continued to commit genocide in Gaza after last October's US brokered ceasefire, Reuters reported. The commission said Israeli authorities had kept committing genocidal acts with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, the Palestinians in Gaza. Israel dismissed the finding as misinformation. The findings below are the commission's allegations, and Israel's rejection is reported in full.
What the commission said about Gaza
Since October 2025, when the ceasefire was signed, Israeli forces have gone from controlling 53 percent of Gaza to at least 60 percent, the commission said. In that time, Israeli fire across the advancing front has killed at least 196 Palestinians, including 18 women, 32 boys and 11 girls, according to the Associated Press report on the findings.
The commission found that Israeli forces continued using heavy munitions, drones, quadcopters, artillery and sniper fire in densely populated areas during the ceasefire, Reuters reported. It said the Yellow Line, presented as a temporary ceasefire demarcation, was encroaching into Gaza and becoming a de facto border.
The commission's press release says Israel has committed war crimes and the crimes against humanity of extermination, persecution, torture, rape and other forms of sexual violence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, intentionally targeting Palestinian civilians. "Meanwhile, Israel's expansion of territorial control in Gaza continues to result in the killing and harming of Palestinian civilians who approach or cross the Yellow Line," said Srinivasan Muralidhar, Chair of the Commission, in the release.
Findings on the West Bank
The report said the situation had also continued to deteriorate in the occupied West Bank. West Bank airstrike deaths rose from six Palestinians between 2008 and 6 October 2023 to 254 Palestinians between 7 October 2023 and 30 September 2026, according to the report.
Military operations since January 2025 have led to the largest displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank since 1967, with 34,176 Palestinians remaining displaced as of August 2026, the report said.
The report also accused Israeli soldiers and prison guards of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the West Bank. It said the commission had documented six cases where Israeli guards were sexually violent toward male detainees from Gaza in the Sde Teiman military prison. The Associated Press said it could not independently corroborate multiple graphic accounts in the report.
Israel rejects the report
Israel's mission in Geneva called for the commission's dissolution and said the report was an example of its misinformation campaign, the Associated Press reported. Ambassador Daniel Meron said in a statement that efforts by actors such as the commission undermine Israel's legitimacy and deny its right to exist and defend itself, Reuters reported. Israel has long criticized the commission and denied accusations of genocide in Gaza and sexual assault by its forces.
The commission also faulted the Palestinian Authority, saying it had targeted Palestinians who voice dissenting views, Reuters reported. Its findings could be used by prosecutors at the International Criminal Court, the Associated Press reported. They are not a final ruling by the International Court of Justice or a criminal conviction.
The war began with the Hamas led attacks on 7 October 2023, in which militants killed 1,200 people and took 251 hostages. Israel's campaign has killed over 74,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza's Health Ministry figures reported by the Associated Press and Palestinian authorities cited by Reuters.
