Toyota Recalls 105,794 Land Cruiser Hybrids in the US Over a Fuel Leak That Could Cause a Fire
Toyota is recalling 105,794 Land Cruiser hybrid SUVs in the United States because a fuel tube connection near the fuel tank can come apart and leak fuel, the NHTSA said on Wednesday. Dealers will fit a clamp or replace the tube free of charge, and owners will be notified by mid-December.

Toyota is recalling 105,794 vehicles in the United States over a fuel leak that could raise the risk of a fire, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Wednesday. Reuters reported the recall on Wednesday, October 21, citing the safety agency. The recall covers certain 2024 to 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid models.
The Land Cruiser came back to the US market as a new model in 2024, built around a turbocharged 2.4 liter four cylinder engine paired with a hybrid system, Kelley Blue Book notes. That hybrid setup is part of this story, because Toyota says fuel can keep leaking from the faulty connection until the engine in the hybrid system shuts off.
What can go wrong
The problem sits at one joint in the fuel tube, close to the fuel tank. Toyota says that connection can come apart. Fuel can then escape from the tube. If the leaking fuel reaches an ignition source, the risk of a fire goes up.
No driver warning is described in the notices published so far. The fault is in a connection owners cannot inspect in any useful way from the driver seat, which is why the fix is dealer work and why owners are being told to check whether their vehicle is on the list.
The fix
Dealers will inspect the fuel tube connection first. They will then install a supplemental clamp at the connection so it cannot pull apart. If the inspection shows the tube itself needs to go, dealers will replace the resin fuel tube and install the clamp as well. Toyota and the safety agency both say the work will be done free of charge.
The number in the Wednesday agency report, 105,794, is the precise count for the US recall. Toyota gave a rounded figure, about 106,000 vehicles, when it first announced the recall on October 14. It is the same recall, not a second one. Toyota said the list of vehicles involved was current as of its filing date and could change after that.
What owners should do
All known owners will be notified by mid-December 2026, Toyota said. Owners do not have to wait for that letter. They can go to Toyota.com/recall or to nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter a vehicle identification number or license plate information to see whether their Land Cruiser is included.
Owners with questions can call the Toyota Brand Engagement Center at 1-800-331-4331.
The Land Cruiser is one of Toyota's longest running names and its reputation rests on durability. A fuel leak is a basic safety fault, and the remedy here is simple hardware: a clamp, and a new tube where the old one fails inspection. Owners of a 2024, 2025, 2026 or 2027 model should run the check now rather than wait for the December letter.
