From journalism to a security company
Sinha was born on 22 September 1951 in Bihar, with his roots in Buxar district. He studied political science and law and graduated from Anugrah Narayan College in Patna. He began his career as a journalist.
In 1974 he founded Security and Intelligence Services in Patna. The company was set up to help retired servicemen find work as security guards after the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. Bihar Tak, the India Today network channel, traced his journey from the JP movement to the Rajya Sabha in its report on his death.
The company he built
SIS grew from that Patna start into one of India's largest private security, facility management and cash logistics groups, operating in India and Australia. Sinha remained the group's founder and group chairman. The work he started in 1974, placing former servicemen in guard jobs, became the base of a business that now works across two countries.
Six years in the Rajya Sabha
Sinha served as a Rajya Sabha member for Bihar from 10 April 2014 to 9 April 2020, as a member of the BJP. Party colleagues remembered him on Friday as one of the party's founding members, a link between its Jan Sangh past and its present in Bihar and in national politics.
