Ratchet and Clank: Ranger Rumble will never get a full global release. Developer Oh BiBi announced on the game's official website on November 6, 2026 that it has decided to cease development of the free to play mobile game, ending the project before a worldwide launch.
"We’ve made the difficult decision to cease development of Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble." The studio statement was carried in full by Gematsu. The final planned update rolls out on November 6, and the app will be removed from the App Store and Google Play on November 21, 2026.
A soft launch that never became a launch
Ranger Rumble is a free to play mobile game published by PlayStation, part of Sony Interactive Entertainment, and developed by French studio Oh BiBi in partnership with Insomniac Games. It was described as a fast paced multiplayer platformer arena shooter.
The game was announced in November 2025 and soft launched that same month in the Philippines and Indonesia. It later rolled out to Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, France, Canada and the United Kingdom. It never received a full global release, so players in most countries never had a chance to download it through a normal launch.
What happens to players who have it
Players who already have the game installed can keep playing until May 1, 2027. On that date the servers will permanently shut down and the game will no longer load.
In app purchases have been removed. The Qwark Pass seasons will continue to run until May 1, 2027, and the Super Pass is now free. All current game modes, matchmaking and competitive features remain active until the end of service. All player data will be wiped from the servers at the end of service, according to the studio statement and its FAQ.
No reason for the shutdown was given in the announcement, GameSpot reported. The cancellation does not affect other Ratchet and Clank games or PlayStation services. The latest entry in the mainline series was Rift Apart, released in 2021.
The studio thanks its early players
Oh BiBi closed its message with thanks for the players who joined during the soft launch period. "On behalf of the dev team and everyone helping to make the game, thanks to our amazing community for all your support, especially to those who have spent time playing, sharing feedback, and helping shape Ranger Rumble throughout its development," the statement said, in the text reported by Video Games Chronicle.
For those players, the timeline is now clear. The last update is out, the store listings close on November 21, and the game itself stays playable for just under six more months before the May 1, 2027 shutdown ends it for good.
