The Nepal Tourism Board and TikTok formally launched the #VisitNepal campaign in Kathmandu on Friday, November 6, 2026, a push to sell Nepal's mountains, heritage and festivals to travellers through short video, Nepal on the Web reported.
The campaign runs until the end of 2026 and has its own dedicated #VisitNepal hashtag page on TikTok. Minister for Information and Communications Dr. Bikram Timilsina attended the launch as chief guest, Nepal on the Web reported. The board said the campaign is meant to create work for local content creators, entrepreneurs, businesses and communities, not only to promote destinations.
Nine creators, one week in the country
Nine international travel creators from Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and South Asia are touring Nepal under the campaign, Nepal TV World reported. Their visit runs from October 30 to November 7, 2026. They are filming Himalayan landscapes, trekking routes, wildlife, festivals and living cultural traditions, and posting videos and livestreams as they go.
Earlier reporting on the visit put the creators' home countries as France, Portugal, Tunisia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, and said three of them were filming in Pokhara while the others worked in Kathmandu, with Chitwan and Bardiya also on the wider itinerary.
Why TikTok, why now
Timilsina told the launch that short videos on TikTok could persuade international audiences to visit Nepal, Nepal TV World reported. The tourism board's acting chief executive, Hikmat Singh Air, said the campaign gives Nepal's tourism stories a route to audiences around the world through digital media, according to Wonder Travelers' report of the launch.
The partnership itself is older than this week's launch. The board and TikTok signed an agreement on August 19, 2025 to promote Nepal worldwide, and ran a three-day content workshop in Kathmandu in June for tourism entrepreneurs, creators, trekking professionals and mountaineers, according to reporting on the creators' arrival. The #VisitNepal launch is the public-facing start of the campaign those steps built toward. Users can join by searching Visit Nepal on TikTok and posting their own videos with the campaign hashtags.
To take part, users search for Visit Nepal on TikTok, open the campaign page and post their own videos with the hashtags #VisitNepal, #NepalCalling and #photoNepal, according to Wonder Travelers' report of the launch materials. The board is asking creators at home as well as visitors to carry the campaign, so the feed is not only the nine guests' footage.
