Two men died on Friday night in Willis after a shooting at a home in the 5000 block of Pleasure Lake Drive, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies went to the home at about 7:30 p.m. on November 6 after a 911 call reported an assault involving a firearm. They found two adult men with gunshot wounds, and both men were pronounced dead at the scene. FOX 26 Houston described the call that sent deputies to the home as a report of a domestic disturbance and a shooting. The sheriff's office released no further details on Saturday about what happened inside the home before deputies arrived, and it said the circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.

What deputies say happened inside the home

The preliminary investigation indicates that a woman's ex-boyfriend arrived at her home, brandished a firearm and shot her current boyfriend, according to the sheriff's office. The woman then returned fire and shot her ex-boyfriend. Both men died from their injuries at the scene.

Sergeant Christopher Evans of the sheriff's Major Crimes Unit told FOX 26 Houston that the men got into an altercation over a woman and that shots were fired. Evans said no charges have been filed at this time and the woman was not injured. He said it remains unclear what prompted the argument between the men that led to the shooting.

Names withheld, grand jury next

Major Crimes detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the home and are conducting the investigation, the sheriff's office said. The names of the people involved are being withheld while deputies notify their next of kin, and FOX 26 reported that the victims' names have not been released.

The case involving the woman's actions will be presented to a grand jury, which will determine whether an indictment is warranted, the sheriff's office said. Deputies said the shooting was isolated to the people involved and there is no threat to the public.

Willis is a city in Montgomery County, north of Houston. The grand jury review is the next public step in the case. The sheriff's office gave no date for that presentation, and it said Major Crimes detectives and crime scene investigators who worked the scene on Friday night are still on the investigation.
