ANN ARBOR, Michigan: No. 6 Indiana beat Michigan 13-6 in overtime at Michigan Stadium on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in a Big Ten game that produced no touchdown for 60 minutes. Josh Hoover scored the only touchdown of the afternoon on a 4 yard run in overtime. The win was Indiana's first at Michigan Stadium since 1967, and it ended a 22 game losing streak for the Hoosiers at the stadium, the Bloomington Herald-Times reported.

Indiana improved to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the Big Ten. Michigan fell to 4-3 and 1-3 in the conference, and the Wolverines finished a home game without a touchdown.

Sixty minutes without a touchdown

Indiana led 6-0 at halftime on two field goals, the first of them a 22 yard kick by Nico Radicic in the first quarter. Michigan's defense kept the Hoosiers out of the end zone all afternoon in regulation. Indiana ran for 127 yards through four quarters, and Hoover completed 8 of 18 passes for 81 yards in regulation, the Detroit Free Press and game reports said.

Hoover had played hurt, according to a pregame report by ESPN's Pete Thamel, who said the quarterback had an arm and wrist problem from the previous week and that backup Grant Wilson was ready if needed. Hoover stayed in the game, but Michigan cornerback Zeke Berry intercepted him in the third quarter for Hoover's first interception of the season and returned the ball 37 yards to the Indiana 13 yard line. Michigan could not reach the end zone from there either, and Trey Butkowski kicked a 29 yard field goal to cut the lead to 6-3.

Butkowski also missed two field goals in regulation, including one from 32 yards, Eleven Warriors reported, and those misses kept Michigan behind in a game its defense had played well enough to win.

Butkowski ties it at the end

Michigan made its last drive count. The Wolverines reached first and goal at the Indiana 10 yard line late in the fourth quarter, but a sack by Rolijah Hardy on third down forced a field goal try. Butkowski made the 26 yard kick as time expired, tying the game 6-6 and sending it to overtime.

Hoover settles it in overtime

Michigan won the overtime coin toss and chose to play defense first. Hoover needed two plays. He hit tight end Brock Schott for 21 yards to the Michigan 4 yard line, then ran the ball in himself on the next play for the first touchdown of the game. Radicic made the extra point for a 13-6 lead.

Michigan still had its chance. Running back Savion Hiter lost 4 yards on the first play, and quarterback Tommy Carr, making his first career start, kept the drive alive by running 7 yards on fourth and five. Carr then threw to tight end Hogan Hansen in the end zone, but Hansen was out of bounds when he caught it. The drive ended on fourth and nine from the Indiana 13, when Carr's last pass fell incomplete.

Carr completed 20 of 32 passes for 167 yards with one interception, Eleven Warriors reported. It was not enough. Indiana had answered its first loss of the season, a 19-15 defeat against Ohio State a week earlier, by winning a defensive game in one of the hardest road stadiums in the conference.
