A Daytona Beach woman is being held in jail on two felony counts after authorities said she posted a threat on Instagram to shoot President Donald Trump at his campaign rally in her city on Friday night.

Allison Jeanne Albro, 21, was arrested on Oct. 29, according to Volusia County Clerk of Court records cited by the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Court records list her arrest time as 8 p.m. on Oct. 29. She is charged with one count of making written threats to kill or do bodily injury, a second degree felony, and one count of using a two way communications device to commit a felony, a third degree felony, the records show.

The post and the visit from deputies

Sheriff Mike Chitwood said Albro posted the threat on Thursday night, Oct. 29, the night before the rally. The Washington Examiner reported that the post read: "Going to the trump rally in my city tmr so I can shoot him with my glock! wish me luck guys !!"

Members of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office Domestic Security Unit and the U.S. Secret Service went to Albro after learning of the post, Chitwood said in a statement shared on social media on Friday morning, Oct. 30. Albro told investigators she was joking, that she did not have access to the Glock mentioned in her post or to any other weapon, and that she would never hurt anyone, according to Chitwood.

"We are not going to tolerate threats to assassinate the president," Chitwood wrote. He advised anyone else thinking of posting a joke along these lines to think twice.

Albro was held at the Volusia County branch jail, according to court records, and was scheduled for an initial court appearance at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 30. The records provided to the News-Journal did not list a bail amount or an attorney representing her. The charges are allegations, and Albro is presumed innocent unless convicted in court.

Security tightens for the Friday rally

Chitwood said his office was coordinating with the Secret Service, the FBI and other law enforcement agencies on security for the presidential visit.

Trump is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, a 9,300 seat venue where doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the rally program begins at 5 p.m. He is campaigning for Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds and U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody, four days before the Nov. 3 midterm elections. The Federal Aviation Administration issued temporary flight restrictions for a 30 nautical mile radius around Ormond Beach Municipal Airport, where Trump is expected to land, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The case and the rally run on parallel clocks in the same city on Friday: a first court appearance in the early afternoon and a presidential rally in the evening, with law enforcement agencies coordinating security for the visit.
