Apple has not said what it will announce. The product list in this article comes from reporting about the event, not from Apple.
What is expected
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has reported that the headline products are new 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro models with OLED screens you can touch, a Dynamic Island cutout like the one on the iPhone, and a body that is significantly lighter than the current models. Those machines are expected to run on M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.
A separate entry level 14 inch MacBook Pro with the newer M6 chip is also expected. That model is reported to keep the current design, with no OLED screen and no touch.
The same event is expected to bring a revamped iPad mini with an OLED screen, a speaker system that has been reworked, and a FaceTime camera moved for landscape use, plus a new iMac powered by the M6 chip. Bloomberg reporting cited by several outlets says the new products go on sale on November 6.
Why it matters
A touchscreen Mac would end a long standing split inside Apple's lineup. Touch has lived on the iPad, while the Mac has stayed with a keyboard, a trackpad and a mouse. Putting touch on the MacBook Pro changes how the two product lines sit next to each other, and it gives software makers a reason to add touch controls to Mac apps.
The event is Apple's second of the month. On October 13, at a "Welcome home" event in New York City, Apple showed the HomeView smart display, the HomePod mini 2 and a new Apple TV 4K. In September the company launched the Duo foldable iPhone, which has seen strong early demand and delivery estimates stretching into January 2027.
Reuters noted that the October 28 event comes as chief executive John Ternus pushes to speed up product development and simplify the company's structure.
What is next
The event takes place on October 28 in Los Angeles. Prices have not been announced for any of the expected products, and Apple could still change or drop items before the day. Orbit Post will cover the announcements as they are confirmed.
