Trump Offers UFC Chief Dana White the White House Press Secretary Job
President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he has offered UFC chief executive Dana White the job of White House press secretary. White has not formally accepted, but he answered on Instagram with a picture of himself at the White House podium.

President Donald Trump on Saturday offered Dana White, the president and chief executive of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the job of White House press secretary. Trump announced the offer in a post on Truth Social and asked White to bring a team of well known UFC fighters with him to Washington as assistants.
"I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States," Trump wrote. He said he had asked White to bring assistants "even though some are not from our Country," and he named Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes and Kayla Harrison.
"We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left," Trump wrote. "Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!"
No formal acceptance yet
White has not formally accepted the offer. He responded on his Instagram account with a photoshopped image of himself standing at the press secretary podium in the White House briefing room, and he wrote, "On to the next chapter." In a separate Instagram Story post, he shared a screenshot of the Trump announcement.
A White House spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheWrap, which reported the Instagram response on Saturday afternoon.
Reuters reported the same offer on Saturday, describing White as the UFC chief executive and a longtime fight promoter. LaPresse, the Italian news agency, also reported the announcement from Trump's post on Truth Social, with the same list of fighters Trump said he wanted White to bring with him.
A second West Wing change in two days
The offer is the second major White House staffing move Trump has announced in two days. On Friday he said Stephen Miller, a deputy chief of staff and a leading architect of his immigration agenda, will replace Susie Wiles as chief of staff starting Monday, November 9. Wiles will move to the president's political operation.
The press secretary job has also turned over fast. TheWrap reported that the offer to White came weeks after the October 16 ouster of Press Secretary Katie Zacharia, whose tenure in the post lasted five days.
A 25 year alliance
Trump and White have a long personal and professional history. TheWrap reported that the relationship goes back about 25 years, to the period when Trump hosted early UFC fights at his casino in Atlantic City. White became one of Trump's most visible supporters in sports. He endorsed Trump in 2016 and has spoken at three Republican National Conventions.
The alliance reached the White House grounds this year. The UFC staged its Freedom 250 event at the White House on June 14, 2026, an event Trump and White attended together.
If White accepts, a sports promoter with no government communications post on his record would become the public voice of the White House at the start of a difficult stretch for the administration. Republicans lost control of both the House and the Senate in the November 3 midterm elections, and the incoming Democratic Congress has promised investigations. For now, the job is an offer, not an appointment, and the next move belongs to White.
