SoFi Technologies shares climbed 9 percent in premarket trading on Tuesday after the fintech raised its annual revenue forecast and beat Wall Street estimates for third quarter results. By midday the stock was up about 15 percent, on track for its best day of the quarter.
Adjusted net revenue surged 44 percent to a record $1.4 billion in the third quarter, beating expectations of $1.25 billion according to LSEG estimates. Quarterly adjusted profit was 18 cents per share, topping estimates of 16 cents. The company now carries a market cap of about $18.7 billion, according to Reuters.
Members and lending drive the record
Membership climbed 35 percent to a record 17.1 million in the quarter, and the company added 1.2 million members. Loan originations jumped 71 percent. Those two numbers explain most of the revenue story. More members joined, and the lending business wrote far more loans than a year earlier.
Lending drove the quarter. Adjusted net revenue in the lending segment reached $807 million, up 68 percent year over year. Financial services revenue rose 25 percent to $525 million. The third segment moved the other way. Technology platform revenue fell 24 percent to $87.4 million after a large client left the platform before December 31, 2025.
SoFi chief executive Anthony Noto put the quarter in the context of a difficult year. "We had exceptional Q3 results against the backdrop of any environment, but they are even more remarkable given how 2026 has unfolded," Noto said in the company statement as reported by Reuters.
Forecast raised for 2026, targets set for 2027
SoFi now expects full year adjusted net revenue of $5.04 billion, above Street expectations of $4.87 billion and up from its earlier range of $4.75 billion to $4.85 billion. That is a beat and raise quarter. The company beat the estimate for the quarter just ended and lifted the number for the full year at the same time.
The company also set out its view for next year. For 2027 SoFi expects adjusted net revenue to grow roughly 27 percent to about $6.4 billion and adjusted earnings of about $0.90 per share, above the Koyfin consensus of $0.82. Those targets give investors a second test after the current year. The 2026 guide has to be met first, and then the 2027 growth rate has to be delivered from a larger base.
The share move shows how the market read the mix. The premarket gain of 9 percent widened to about 15 percent by midday, even though one segment, the technology platform, fell sharply after losing a large client. Investors focused on the parts that grew. Lending revenue up 68 percent, financial services up 25 percent, membership at a record 17.1 million and originations up 71 percent outweighed the platform decline in the trading on Tuesday.
The quarter also sets a clear marker for the rest of the year. SoFi has promised $5.04 billion in adjusted net revenue for the full year, up from a range that topped out at $4.85 billion. If the company meets that guide, the third quarter record of $1.4 billion will be the step that made the higher full year number possible.
