San Diego State beat Long Beach State 92-67 at Viejas Arena on Wednesday night in its third and final exhibition game, pulling away in the second half after a close first half in San Diego, California.

The Aztecs led 45-38 at halftime on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Chance Gladden, his third 3-pointer of the half. San Diego State then scored the first 11 points of the second half, part of a 13-4 run that pushed the lead to 58-42. Latrell Davis opened the half with two driving layups, Elzie Harrington followed with a steal and a score that forced a Long Beach State timeout, and Davis later hit a 3-pointer that pushed the lead to 15.

Six Aztecs in double figures

Six San Diego State players scored in double figures. Davis led the team with 14 points, and Harrington scored 13. Jeremiah Cherry, Chance Gladden and Luka Skoric scored 11 points each, and Isaiah Sy added 10. Gladden dealt a game-high seven assists, and Harrington and Davis had four assists each. A changed lineup and a new league

Head coach Brian Dutcher changed his starting lineup for the first time in the exhibition schedule. Davis started in place of Sy, who came off the bench after starting the first two exhibitions. Gladden and Harrington started for the third straight game, and forwards Tae Simmons and Cherry also started for the third straight game.

The win followed double-digit exhibition losses to Top 25 teams Arizona and Southern Cal. Long Beach State was playing its first and only exhibition game and was shorthanded, after finishing 10-22 last season. San Diego State has moved from the Mountain West into the new-look Pac-12 Conference, and the Aztecs are coming off a season in which they missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time in six seasons. The regular season opens at home on November 3 against Cal State Fullerton.
