Jon Rahm won the Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links on Sunday, November 8, 2026. He closed with a 5-under 67 to finish at 23-under 265, two strokes clear of Tyrrell Hatton and four ahead of Rory McIlroy. It was Rahm's first European tour title in four years and a record sixth Rolex Series win.
A lead lost and won back
Rahm took a one-shot lead into the final day. He did not hold it all the way round. Hatton, McIlroy and Francesco Laporta each led at various points on Sunday, and the top of the leaderboard changed hands through the round before Rahm pulled away late. He closed with three straight pars to finish the job. His four rounds were 65, 67, 66 and 67.
Hatton shot 68 on Sunday to finish alone in second place at 21-under. McIlroy closed with a 69 and took third at 19-under, four shots behind the winner. Laporta finished fourth at 17-under.
A record on his tournament debut
The DP World Tour called the win a record-breaking sixth Rolex Series title for Rahm, and it came on his debut in this tournament. The Abu Dhabi Championship is the first of the two season-ending DP World Tour playoff tournaments in the United Arab Emirates, and Rahm now has 11 DP World Tour titles in his career.
The win also changes his position for the final week of the season. Rahm moved to sixth in the Race to Dubai standings. That keeps him in contention ahead of next week's DP World Tour Championship, where only the top 50 available players are eligible to play.
The money and the numbers
Rahm earned the winner's share of $1,530,000 from a total purse of $9,000,000. His winning total of 265 came from rounds of 65, 67, 66 and 67, with the final 67 played under pressure from three different players who each held the lead during the day.
For Rahm, the result ends a four-year wait for a European tour title. He started Sunday in front, lost the lead, and still won by two shots, with the two players closest to him, Hatton and McIlroy, unable to match his closing round.
Why this one matters
A one-shot lead is a thin margin to protect for 18 holes, and Rahm could not protect it in a straight line. Three other players took turns in front of him. What decided the day was the finish: once he moved back in front late in the round, he gave the field nothing back, closing with three pars in a row while Hatton finished two behind and McIlroy four behind. The scorecard tells the same story across the week. Rahm broke 70 in all four rounds, and his worst round of the week was a 67. Hatton needed a 66 or better on Sunday to catch him and shot 68. McIlroy needed a far bigger move and shot 69. On a day when the lead kept changing hands, the most steady card in the leading group won.
