The New England Patriots beat the New York Jets 26-19 on Sunday at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, with Drake Maye throwing three touchdown passes to extend New England's winning streak to three games.

Maye finished 18 of 32 for 235 yards, Reuters reported. His touchdown passes went to Romeo Doubs, DeMario Douglas and Hunter Henry. Douglas led the Patriots with seven catches for 86 yards. New England improved to 4-2, with division wins over the Jets and Buffalo in that run. The Jets fell to 2-4.

New England builds a 17-3 halftime lead

Jason Sanders opened the scoring for New York with a 42-yard field goal with 8:17 left in the first quarter. That was the Jets' only lead. Maye answered with a 42-yard touchdown pass to Doubs with 4:10 left in the quarter, putting New England in front 7-3.

Andy Borregales added a 32-yard field goal with 1:46 left in the second quarter. With 14 seconds left in the half, Maye found Douglas for a 9-yard touchdown, and the Patriots led 17-3 at halftime.

The Jets had chances to keep it closer. New York failed on two fourth-down tries in the first half, the Providence Journal reported, and settled for field goals instead of touchdowns for most of the day.

The Jets cut it to four, and no closer for long

Geno Smith brought New York back after halftime. On the Jets' first drive of the second half, Smith threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to Omar Cooper Jr., the rookie's first career touchdown, the Jets said. The score cut the lead to 17-10.

After a fumble by TreVeyon Henderson, Sanders kicked a 36-yard field goal with 4:46 left in the third quarter, and New England's lead was down to 17-13.

Maye answered early in the fourth quarter with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Henry. Borregales missed the extra point wide left, so the lead stood at 23-13 with 14:10 left, 50 seconds into the fourth quarter by the game clock Reuters reported.

Smith finished 20 of 30 for 252 yards and one touchdown. He was intercepted for the first time this season, in the fourth quarter, NBC Sports reported. Sanders kicked his third field goal, from 40 yards, with 7:20 left to make it 23-16.

Borregales seals it, then the onside kick fails

New England then held the ball for more than six minutes. Corey Kiner ran 11 times for 57 yards, most of it on that final long drive, and Borregales kicked a 27-yard field goal with 1:12 left for a 26-16 lead.

Sanders made a 36-yard field goal with 32 seconds left, his fourth of the game, to pull the Jets within 26-19. New York tried an onside kick. The ball came off A.J. Brown's hands, NBC Sports reported, but Douglas fell on it, and New England ran out the clock.

Injuries thin the Patriots line

The win came at a cost on the offensive line. Morgan Moses (ankle), Ben Brown (right knee) and Alijah Vera-Tucker (hamstring) were all hurt and did not return, the Providence Journal reported. New England played much of the game short of depth up front and still closed it out on the ground.

Next up, New England has a short week and travels to Chicago for a Thursday night game against the Bears. The Jets are two games behind the Patriots in the loss column in the AFC East.
