Jacksonville, Florida: Jaguars Left Tackle Anton Harrison Is Out for the Season With a Torn ACL
Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle Anton Harrison will miss the rest of the season after surgery on Thursday revealed a torn right ACL, NFL Network reported on Friday. He was hurt on October 11 in London, and Walker Little will keep the left tackle job.
Key points
- The Jacksonville Jaguars have lost their starting left tackle for the season.
- The team and the player had hoped the surgery would be smaller than that.
- Harrison, 24, was injured while blocking on a running play in the October 11 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in London.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have lost their starting left tackle for the season. Anton Harrison will miss the rest of the year with a torn right ACL, NFL Network reported on Friday, in an account carried by Reuters through Field Level Media. The finding came one day after Harrison underwent arthroscopic knee surgery.
The team and the player had hoped the surgery would be smaller than that. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, who first reported the result, put it plainly: "The hope was just an arthroscopic procedure, but instead there was more damage." Jaguars Wire, the USA Today site that covers the team, reported the same finding from the same surgery: the procedure was needed to learn what the knee required, and inside it the surgeons found the torn ACL.
How the injury happened
Harrison, 24, was injured while blocking on a running play in the October 11 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in London. The Jaguars placed him on injured reserve two days later, before the Week 6 game against Houston. At that point the full extent of the damage was not known, which is why Thursday's surgery carried the answer.
What Jacksonville loses
Harrison has been a fixture on the Jacksonville line since the team selected him with the 27th overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. He has 53 starts. He started the past three seasons at right tackle, then moved to the left side before the 2026 season, the blind side job in the Jaguars offense. Jaguars Wire reported that he moved to left tackle during training camp while Cole Van Lanen was sidelined, and that the team chose to keep him on the left side even after Van Lanen returned.
His season ends, but his contract horizon in Jacksonville does not. The Jaguars have already picked up his fifth year option for next season, Reuters reported, so the club's plan still runs through Harrison at tackle once he is healthy again.
Who plays now, and how thin the room is
Walker Little will continue to start at left tackle. Little replaced Harrison in the Philadelphia game and started against Houston, and Reuters reported he is expected to make his second straight start at the position when the Jaguars, 4 and 2 and on their bye this week, host the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8.
The depth behind Little is the open question for Jacksonville. A to Z Sports, which also reported the season ending diagnosis on Friday, noted that the Jaguars currently carry just eight offensive linemen on the 53 man roster and have limited options at tackle if Little or Van Lanen were to get hurt. Patrick Mekari is one possible reinforcement on reserve, but A to Z Sports reported he had back surgery in August and has not played this season. That is why the same report raised whether Jacksonville looks for line insurance before next month's trade deadline.
For now the facts are narrow and settled. A surgery that was meant to clean up a knee instead found a torn ACL, and Jacksonville will play the rest of its season without the tackle it moved to the left side to protect its quarterback.
