No. 24 Iowa beat Wisconsin 30-0 at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City on Saturday, October 31, 2026, and kept the Heartland Trophy for a fifth consecutive year. Quarterback Hank Brown completed 20 of 24 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns in the 100th meeting between the programs, and Iowa scored 10 points in each of the first three quarters while holding Wisconsin scoreless for the second straight meeting between the teams.
Brown had it settled by halftime
Hank Brown had the game in hand by the break. He completed 16 of 18 passes for 190 yards and both of his touchdowns in the first half, one to DJ Vonnahme and one to Tony Diaz, as Iowa led 10-0 after the first quarter and 20-0 at halftime. Wisconsin never recovered, and a scoreless fourth quarter closed a final score that had been set before the last period began.
DJ Vonnahme did a little of everything for Iowa. He caught five passes for 54 yards and a touchdown, carried the ball twice for 10 yards, and scored again on a run in the third quarter. Tony Diaz finished with five catches for 75 yards and his touchdown. Kicker Caden Buhr made all three of his field goal attempts, and the last of them, a career long 54 yard kick in the third quarter, pushed the score to 30-0 and finished the scoring for the day.
A hard afternoon for Wisconsin
Wisconsin could not move the ball. Quarterback Colton Joseph was benched after he completed 5 of 14 passes for 90 yards and lost a fumble, and the Badgers finished with just 52 rushing yards as a team. The loss left Wisconsin at 5-3 on the season, while Iowa moved to 6-2 with a win that also kept a long run of results in this series going for one more year.
Five straight, and two straight shutouts
The win was Iowa's fifth straight against Wisconsin, and the Hawkeyes have now shut out the Badgers in back to back meetings. Across the five wins, Iowa has outscored Wisconsin 148-26. Wisconsin is now 1-6 against rivals Iowa and Minnesota in the Luke Fickell era, and the Badgers have a chance to bounce back on November 7, when they play Rutgers.
Iowa came into Saturday at 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the Big Ten, ranked 24th in the US LBM Coaches Poll, after a 13-10 loss to Minnesota last week. The answer this week was a clean one: ten points in the first quarter, ten in the second, ten in the third, and a defense that gave Wisconsin nothing at all in the 100th game between the schools.
