Key points

  • The Indianapolis Colts are listening.
  • Jones, 29, has completed 60.4 percent of his passes for 1,542 yards with five touchdowns and nine interceptions this season, his second with the Colts.

The Indianapolis Colts are listening. ESPN and NFL Network reported on Saturday, November 7, that the Colts have fielded calls from multiple teams interested in quarterback Daniel Jones, and that the club is willing to listen to any offers for him. Jones is still scheduled to make his ninth start of the season on Sunday, at home in Indianapolis, Indiana, against the Dallas Cowboys.

Jones draws the calls

Jones, 29, has completed 60.4 percent of his passes for 1,542 yards with five touchdowns and nine interceptions this season, his second with the Colts. He signed a two-year, $88 million contract in March that included a $44 million signing bonus. The deal carries a $10.51 million injury guarantee for 2027 that becomes fully guaranteed on March 15 if he is still on the roster, ESPN reported. That date is part of why teams are calling now.

The Baltimore Ravens reached out about Jones before acquiring veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett in a deal with the Arizona Cardinals on Friday, the reports said. Indianapolis also has quarterbacks Riley Leonard and Anthony Richardson on the roster. The Colts are 2-6 and trying to snap a four-game losing run. Dallas arrives at 3-5.

Downs has an offer on the table

Receiver Josh Downs has requested a trade and is in the final year of his contract. He will be a free agent at the end of the year. Schefter and Rapoport reported the Colts have told other teams they have already received an offer of a fourth-round pick for Downs. Indianapolis initially asked for a third-round pick. The reports did not name the team that made the offer.

The Kansas City Chiefs have been linked to Downs in other reports. The Athletic's Jonathan Jones reported Kansas City is hunting for a big-name receiver and that Downs is the name that comes up most often, and he noted the San Francisco 49ers are calling around on the same receivers. That is reported interest, not a confirmed offer. Downs has a $3.92 million base salary this year, according to Over the Cap figures cited by Athlon Sports. He caught 14 passes for 186 yards in the first three weeks, including seven for 72 yards against Kansas City in Week 2, and 16 passes for 144 yards in the five games since.

A roster already being sold off

Downs is not the only name moving. Veteran receiver Keenan Allen has drawn inquiries, and defensive tackle Grover Stewart has continued to receive trade interest, though the reports said Indianapolis is asking a price teams see as too high right now. Previous reports said the Colts are also in trade discussions about running back Jonathan Taylor.

The talks follow two sales on October 27, when Indianapolis traded All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks and All-Pro defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers. The trade deadline is Tuesday, November 10, at 4 p.m. ET. If Kansas City or another team meets the asking price for Downs, Sunday's game against Dallas could be his last at Lucas Oil Stadium. Nothing had been agreed as of Saturday afternoon, and every move in this story is a report, not a done deal.
