Hindalco Industries reported a record second quarter on Friday, November 6, 2026. Consolidated net profit rose 59 percent to Rs 7,533 crore for the three months ended September 30, 2026, a figure Reuters reported as Rs 75.32 billion, or about 799.96 million dollars. Higher aluminium prices and increased production drove the result, Reuters reported.
Consolidated revenue rose 39 percent year on year to a record Rs 91,708 crore. Consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation grew 42 percent to Rs 13,757 crore, according to the company results reported by DSIJ. Basic earnings per share rose to Rs 33.93 from Rs 21.35 a year earlier.
Standalone profit more than doubles
On a standalone basis, profit after tax more than doubled to Rs 5,132 crore in the second quarter of the 2027 financial year, against Rs 2,266 crore in the same quarter a year earlier, The Hindu BusinessLine reported in its live results coverage. The standalone and consolidated figures measure different scopes and should not be mixed: the consolidated number covers the full group, including the Novelis business, while the standalone number covers the India parent alone.
India business drives the growth
The India business recorded revenue up 42 percent to Rs 36,123 crore and EBITDA up 70 percent to Rs 8,765 crore, with profit after tax up 91 percent to Rs 5,852 crore, DSIJ reported. A lower effective tax rate of 25 percent under the new tax regime, in place from April 1, 2026, helped the India result.
Aluminium, copper and Novelis
Aluminium upstream EBITDA rose 55 percent to Rs 7,009 crore. Copper delivered its highest ever quarterly EBITDA of Rs 1,673 crore, up 164 percent. The Novelis business segment EBITDA rose 32 percent to Rs 4,858 crore as its Oswego hot mill normalised production, DSIJ reported.
The three units moved in the same direction in the same quarter: the home aluminium business on higher prices, copper on a record quarter, and Novelis on a plant returning to normal output after disruption.
The company and the shares
Hindalco is owned by the Aditya Birla Group and is one of India's biggest aluminium and copper producers, Reuters noted. Its shares were little changed on the day, trading around Rs 934 to Rs 937 in Mumbai.
The result feeds the earnings season picture for Indian metals: demand and prices held up through the September quarter, and the group's spread across aluminium, copper and rolled products in the United States gave it more than one way to grow in the same three months.
