A career built in animation
Bauza was born on December 7, 1979, in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, and was of Filipino descent. His father and grandfather were fans of classic cartoons such as Looney Tunes. He attended Cardinal Newman Catholic High School in Scarborough and graduated from Centennial College in 2000.
He started work in animation production as a character designer and production artist at the studio Spumco. His early voice work included the role of Stimpy in the 2003 revival Ren and Stimpy: Adult Party Cartoon, taking over a character first voiced by Billy West. His credits then spread across television series, films, video games and shorts for major animation studios.
The voice of a new Looney Tunes era
Bauza began working in the Looney Tunes franchise in 2011 as the voice of Marvin the Martian. He later became one of the main voices of the franchise, playing Bugs Bunny in series such as Looney Tunes Cartoons and in the 2021 film Space Jam: A New Legacy, and voicing Bugs Bunny again in the 2024 video game MultiVersus.
In 2022, he won the first ever Children's and Family Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice Performance in an Animated Program for his work on Looney Tunes Cartoons. He won two more Children's and Family Emmy Awards, in 2023 for Bugs Bunny Builders and in 2025 for Teen Titans Go.
His other well known roles included Puss in Boots in The Adventures of Puss in Boots and Baby Fozzie in Muppet Babies. Earlier this year, he had a dozen credits in Coyote vs. Acme, the Looney Tunes film that Warner Bros. Discovery shelved in 2023 before Ketchup Entertainment distributed it this year. Kotaku described the film as one of his final performances.
