The Arizona Cardinals beat the Dallas Cowboys 33-30 in overtime at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Sunday, November 1, 2026, in Week 8 of the NFL season. Arizona trailed 17-3, changed quarterbacks late in the third quarter, and won on a 42-yard Chad Ryland field goal in overtime. Both teams are 3-5 after the game.
Minshew changes the game
Arizona replaced Jacoby Brissett with Gardner Minshew with 1:35 remaining in the third quarter. Minshew led the Cardinals to four touchdowns on his first four drives. He finished 17 of 23 for 188 yards and three touchdowns.
The last of those drives tied the game. Minshew threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Michael Wilson that made it 30-30 with 6 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Ryland then missed the extra point, his first missed extra point since 2024, and the miss sent the game to overtime.
In overtime, neither team scored on its first possession. Arizona then drove 44 yards on eight plays on its second overtime possession, and Ryland won the game with a 42-yard field goal.
Arizona's offense outproduces Dallas
Arizona outgained Dallas 467 yards to 261. Tyler Allgeier, the only healthy Cardinals running back left after injuries, had 11 carries for 147 yards and a touchdown and caught five passes for 44 yards and a touchdown. Wilson had eight catches for 111 yards and a touchdown. Trey McBride had seven catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Dak Prescott was 19 of 29 for 195 yards and a touchdown for Dallas. CeeDee Lamb caught seven passes for 58 yards, and Javonte Williams ran for 56 yards on 24 carries.
Dallas led 17-3 and still had the game in its hands late. Brandon Aubrey kicked a 41-yard field goal with 1:09 left in the fourth quarter instead of Dallas running out the clock, and Arizona used the opening to tie the game. The Cowboys have not won back-to-back games since last November.
Injuries and a strange series
Arizona's win came at a cost. The Cardinals lost left tackle Jayden Williams to a knee injury, running backs Jeremiyah Love (ankle) and Bam Knight (concussion), and wide receiver Kendrick Bourne (ankle) during the game.
The result also continued an odd pattern in this series. The Cardinals are 5-0 at AT&T Stadium all-time, and they have won nine of the last 10 meetings with the Cowboys. On Sunday they did it with a backup quarterback who entered the game with 1:35 left in the third quarter and a kicker who missed the extra point that would have won it in regulation, then made the kick that won it in overtime.
By quarters, Arizona scored none in the first, three in the second, seven in the third, 20 in the fourth and three in overtime. Dallas scored seven in the first, seven in the second, three in the third, 13 in the fourth and none in overtime.
