Chicago builds a two goal lead

Anton Frondell opened the scoring for Chicago on a power play at 6:04 of the first period, a one timer from the right circle. Patrick Kane assisted on the goal, his 900th assist in the NHL. David Pastrnak tied the game at 13:05 of the first, chipping the puck over Arvid Soderblom on a breakaway after a stretch pass from Pavel Zacha.

Frondell scored again at 3:31 of the second period to put Chicago ahead 2-1. Casey Mittelstadt tied it at 12:34 of the second, taking a feed from James Hagens and scoring from the slot. Chicago then scored twice in the third period. Ryan Greene finished a three on one rush at 9:38, and Connor Bedard made it 4-2 at 12:20. Bedard said after the game that it was probably the best game of the year for Chicago, and that the Blackhawks had to find a way to close out a game they had controlled for long stretches.

Lohrei and Geekie tie it, Lindholm wins it

Mason Lohrei cut the lead to 4-3 at 13:06 of the third, 46 seconds after the Bedard goal. Boston pulled DiPietro for an extra skater late, and Morgan Geekie scored on a one timer with 12 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 4-4.

In overtime, DiPietro stopped Frondell on a scoring chance at one end. Charlie McAvoy then sent the puck up ice to Lindholm, who held off two defenders and tucked a forehand past Soderblom for the winner. McAvoy and JJ Peterka each finished with two assists for Boston. Soderblom made 27 saves for Chicago, which outshot Boston 41-32.

Pastrnak passes Bergeron

The Pastrnak goal was the 428th of his career with the Bruins. It moved him into sole possession of third place on the team list, ahead of his former teammate Patrice Bergeron. Johnny Bucyk leads the list with 545 goals, and Phil Esposito is second with 459.

"Doing that with one franchise, especially a franchise like the Boston Bruins is pretty amazing," Boston coach Marco Sturm said in the NHL.com recap of the milestone.

Boston improved to 10-4-1 and ended a two game losing run. The win was the fifth in a row at home for the Bruins, who are 6-1-0 at TD Garden this season.
