Bayern Munich beat RB Leipzig 6-1 at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, October 17, 2026, to go top of the Bundesliga. Luis Diaz scored a hat trick, Harry Kane scored once and set up two goals in his 100th Bundesliga appearance, and Aleksandar Pavlovic and Michael Olise were also on target. Andrija Maksimovic scored a late consolation for Leipzig.
Bayern started the day behind Borussia Dortmund, but Dortmund drew 0-0 at Union Berlin in the earlier game. Bayern had drawn their previous two league matches, and this was the kind of result that ends talk of a slump. It was also their third straight win over Leipzig, by a combined score of 17-1.
Diaz takes the game away early
Diaz opened the scoring in the 12th minute, racing on to a through ball from Joshua Kimmich and finishing hard past goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt. He turned provider in the 26th minute, picking out Pavlovic, who drove in the second goal from a tight angle.
Olise made it 3-0 in the 34th minute with a low curling shot from the edge of the box after Kane set him up. Leipzig had brief moments of threat in the first few minutes, but by half time the game was close to settled.
Kane marks his century and Diaz finishes the job
Diaz scored again 95 seconds after the restart, cutting in from the left and curling the ball into the far corner. Kane then marked his landmark game in the 52nd minute, turning in a pass from Nathaniel Brown from close range. It was his 102nd Bundesliga goal. He came off before the hour, with Wednesday's Champions League home game against Arsenal in mind.
Diaz completed his hat trick in the 69th minute, curling a shot through a crowded box after a short corner. Maksimovic had the last word for Leipzig in stoppage time, scoring off the underside of the crossbar, but the home crowd had long since started celebrating.
What it means
Bayern move top on goal difference, ahead of Dortmund. Coach Vincent Kompany directed the game from a chair because of a hip problem, and his team gave him their best performance of the season.
"We were determined to play a good home game today. Things worked very well and we had a lot of fun on the pitch," midfielder Tom Bischof said after the game, in comments carried by Bavarian Football Works. "We could even have scored more goals, but after two draws in a row, it was very important to get this win."
