Key points
- Airbnb and Cloudflare both jumped in extended trading on Thursday, November 5, 2026, after third quarter results that beat Wall Street forecasts.

Airbnb and Cloudflare both jumped in extended trading on Thursday, November 5, 2026, after third quarter results that beat Wall Street forecasts. The gains came at the end of a brutal session for technology stocks, when the Nasdaq Composite closed down 5.5 percent and entered a correction.
Airbnb shares rose 10 percent in extended trading, Reuters reported. The San Francisco vacation rental company raised its forecast for 2026 revenue growth to the high teens, up from at least mid teens before. It also authorized a new share repurchase program of up to 12 billion dollars.
Third quarter revenue rose about 19 percent to 4.87 billion dollars. Diluted earnings were 3.16 dollars per share, up from 2.21 dollars a year earlier and ahead of the 2.85 dollars analysts expected, according to FactSet figures reported by the Wall Street Journal. Profit was 1.89 billion dollars, up from 1.37 billion dollars a year earlier.
Travel demand held up
Gross booking value rose 21 percent to 27.7 billion dollars, ahead of a consensus estimate of 26.43 billion dollars. Nights and seats booked rose 16 percent to 155 million in the quarter. Bookings in North America grew by a low double digit rate from a year earlier, and bookings in Europe, the Middle East and Africa grew by a mid teens rate.
Airbnb guided fourth quarter revenue to between 3.22 billion and 3.28 billion dollars, a growth rate of 16 to 18 percent. The company said customer support cost per booking fell more than 17 percent from a year earlier, and about 40 percent of support issues were resolved without a human agent, up from one third in the second quarter.
Reuters noted that hotel operators and rival booking sites have been more cautious about the fourth quarter, pointing to high airfares linked to the Iran war and unrest in parts of Europe. Airbnb said underlying global travel demand remains healthy.
Cloudflare raises its outlook
Cloudflare revenue grew 39 percent to 782.5 million dollars, well ahead of the 737.2 million dollars analysts expected. Adjusted earnings were 38 cents per share, ahead of the 34 cents expected. On a standard accounting basis the company lost 34.1 million dollars, or 10 cents per share, compared with a loss of 1.3 million dollars a year earlier.
The company raised its full year revenue outlook to between 2.963 billion and 2.964 billion dollars, up from a prior range of 2.86 billion to 2.87 billion dollars. It now expects adjusted earnings of 1.35 dollars per share for the year, up from 1.25 to 1.26 dollars before. For the fourth quarter it forecast revenue of 845 million to 846 million dollars and adjusted earnings of 43 cents per share, both ahead of analyst estimates.
Cloudflare stock surged 18 percent to 288 dollars after the bell. The shares had closed at 244.51 dollars, down 8.3 percent on the day, as technology and artificial intelligence stocks sold off around the world. Contracted future revenue due within 12 months, called current remaining performance obligations, rose 37 percent from a year earlier. The company also named Christian Smith as its next president of revenue.
Why it matters
Two different businesses told a similar story on the same night. Travel spending by guests kept growing, and spending on cloud and security services kept growing, even as investors sold technology shares hard during the regular session. The after hours moves show how fast sentiment can turn when a company beats forecasts and raises its outlook on a down day.
What happens next
Both stocks face their first full test on Friday, November 6, when regular trading resumes. The October jobs report is due the same morning and will set the wider market tone. Investors will watch whether the after hours gains hold, and whether other travel and software companies reporting this week can match these numbers.
