Police in West Bend, Wisconsin, say four people were found dead inside a home on Saturday, including two children, and another child was taken to a hospital.

West Bend 911 Dispatch received a call at about 11:47 a.m. reporting multiple deceased people inside a residence in the 100 block of East Washington Street, according to a police statement carried by Washington County Insider and reported by TMJ4 and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

What officers found

Responding officers found four people dead inside the home: an adult woman, an adult man, a boy and a girl. Another girl who was inside the residence was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. TMJ4 reported that the girl was in stable condition.

A deceased dog was also found inside the residence. Officers recovered a firearm believed to be involved in the incident inside the home, police said.

Police have not released the names or ages of the people who died. Police said everyone inside the home was connected to each other, and that they believe the suspect was inside the home with the people who were found dead, TMJ4 reported.

No threat to the community, police say

Police said there is no known indication of an ongoing threat to the community. Officers had earlier asked pedestrians to avoid the area near North and East Washington streets while they worked the scene, while Washington Street stayed open to vehicle traffic. Officers from the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation arrived on scene during the afternoon to help gather evidence, Washington County Insider reported.

Lt. Brian McAndrews told the Journal Sentinel that the circumstances remain under investigation. "At this time, the circumstances remain under investigation, and we are not in a position to characterize the incident or speculate about a possible motive," McAndrews said.

Police said no further details would be released at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Bend Police Department at 262-335-5000.

In their release, police also shared a help line for people facing domestic violence. Anyone experiencing domestic violence, or who knows someone who is, can contact Friends Inc. at 262-334-5598.
