Tennessee beat Kentucky 34-6 on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. The win snapped Kentucky's six-game win streak and left both teams at 7-2. Kentucky fell to 5-2 in the SEC, and Tennessee improved to 4-2 in the conference, the Louisville Courier Journal and KB Sports Media reported.

Kentucky had built its season on clean football, with few turnovers and few penalties. That run ended in Knoxville. The Wildcats gave the ball away three times, on two fumbles and an interception, and they never reached the end zone.

Morris strikes first, and Kentucky answers only with field goals

The defenses held early. Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey drove his team into Tennessee territory in the first quarter, but free safety Dejuan Lane intercepted him in the end zone. It was Minchey's second interception of the season and his first since September 12, 2026, against Alabama, the Courier Journal reported.

Tennessee scored first late in the first quarter. Daune Morris ran 66 yards for a touchdown, and the Volunteers led 7-0. Kentucky answered with two field goals in the second quarter, and Tennessee added a 48-yard field goal from Cooper Ranvier. Tennessee led 10-6 at halftime.

The Tennessee defense holds the line

Ranvier kicked a 39-yard field goal on the first drive of the second half, and Tennessee led 13-6. Kentucky moved the ball but could not finish. The Wildcats ran 71 plays and held the ball for 35 minutes and 17 seconds, yet both of their red zone trips ended in field goals, KB Sports Media reported.

The Tennessee defense sacked Minchey four times and made eight tackles for loss. Minchey finished 26 of 34 passing for 224 yards with one interception. Tennessee outgained Kentucky 389 yards to 361 and ran for 240 yards on 37 carries.

Twenty-one points in the fourth quarter end it

Tennessee put the game away in the fourth quarter. Backup quarterback Faizon Brandon threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Mike Matthews with 13 minutes and 34 seconds left. DeSean Bishop then scored on a five-yard run with 9 minutes and 45 seconds left, after Kentucky had failed on fourth down at midfield.

Bishop scored again from five yards with 1 minute and 6 seconds left, at the end of a 10-play, 65-yard drive that stayed on the ground. Bishop carried 25 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Bishop also passed 1,000 rushing yards for the season, and Rocky Top Insider reported that he is the second Tennessee player, after Johnnie Jones, to pass 1,000 rushing yards in a season twice in his career. Morris added 85 yards on five carries, and the two backs combined for 194 rushing yards and three touchdowns, theScore reported.

What the loss costs Kentucky

Kentucky lost control of its own path in the SEC race. The Wildcats now sit in a group of two-loss teams, and Alabama holds the head-to-head edge over them after its 45-17 win in Lexington on September 12, 2026, the Courier Journal reported.

Kentucky returns home to play Florida on November 14, 2026, at Kroger Field. Tennessee won at Neyland Stadium again in a series it has led for most of its history, and it did so by holding a 7-1 team at kickoff to two field goals.
