The Phoenix Suns beat the Orlando Magic 117-104 on Thursday night at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix. Devin Booker led the Suns with 30 points and a game-high eight assists, and Phoenix ended a four-game losing streak in front of a sellout crowd of 17,071.

Booker scored 23 of his 30 points in the first half. Phoenix led 63-51 at halftime after quarters of 33 and 30 points, and the Suns stretched the lead to 23 points after three quarters. Dillon Brooks added 24 points for Phoenix. The quarter scores told the shape of the night: Orlando scored 26, 25, 22 and 31 across the four quarters, while Phoenix scored 33, 30, 33 and 21.

Orlando wins the boards but loses the ball

Wendell Carter Jr. led Orlando with 27 points and 13 rebounds. The Magic outrebounded Phoenix by 15 and got to the free throw line 11 more times than the Suns. None of that held up against the turnovers. Orlando committed 25 turnovers, and Phoenix made 17 three-pointers, a gap that decided a game the Magic otherwise contested inside.

Orlando played without Paolo Banchero, Jalen Suggs and Jonathan Isaac. Phoenix played on the second night of a back-to-back, which made the fast start behind Booker count for more. By the time Orlando won the fourth quarter 31-21, the Suns had built too much room across the first three quarters for the finish to come under real threat.

What the win does for Phoenix

The win lifted Phoenix to 2-5. Orlando fell to 2-6. For a Suns team that had lost four straight, the value of the night was simple: a home win, a big first half from its best player, and control of the game from the second quarter on. Booker set that tone early, Brooks gave Phoenix a second scoring line, and the Suns turned Orlando's mistakes into enough points to keep the Magic at a distance all night.

Phoenix continues its seven-game homestand on November 7 against the Houston Rockets. Orlando leaves Phoenix at 2-6 with the rebounding numbers to show the effort was there, and the turnover count to show why it did not produce a win.
