PLANO, Texas (Orbit Post) Two people were killed on Friday night, November 6, 2026, when a pickup truck struck their SUV at the intersection of Alma Drive and Cross Bend Road in Plano, Texas, according to Plano police. The driver of the truck was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Police said the crash happened at about 7:15 p.m. on Friday. A Toyota RAV4 was turning left from Alma Drive onto Cross Bend Road when a Ford F-150 traveling on Alma Drive at a high rate of speed struck it, police said.

What Police Say Happened

The impact overturned the RAV4, police said, and both vehicles then struck a traffic signal pole and a tree at the intersection. Police said alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors in the collision. Officers closed the intersection while the crash was investigated, and drivers were kept away from the Alma Drive and Cross Bend Road junction during the work.

The account police released on Saturday is a preliminary one. It does not give a speed for the truck, and it does not say how fast officers believe the F-150 was traveling beyond describing the rate as high. The investigation is still open, and the findings officers described on Saturday can change as the inquiry continues.

The Rescue Attempt

Officers who reached the scene found both people inside the RAV4 unconscious, police said. Plano Fire Rescue crews freed the two occupants from the vehicle and attempted life-saving measures, but the efforts were unsuccessful and both people were pronounced dead.

Police have not released the names of the two people who died. No ages or hometowns for them were given in the police account released on Saturday, and the department has not said when the names will be made public. The police account also did not describe any injuries to the driver of the truck.

Arrest and What Comes Next

Police arrested Steve Jaramillo, 22, the driver of the Ford F-150, for driving while intoxicated. The arrest was on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, and Jaramillo has not been convicted of any offense in the case.

Police said additional charges against Jaramillo will be considered once the investigation is complete. That decision sits ahead, and it depends on what the finished investigation shows about the crash, including the roles that speed and alcohol played in it.

For now, the official record of the Friday night crash is short: a left turn at a Plano intersection, a truck police say was moving too fast, two people dead, and one young driver under arrest while investigators finish their work.
