About 3,662,000 Little Giant ladders are being recalled in the United States because they can suddenly retract while someone is standing on them, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a recall notice dated November 5, 2026.

The recall covers Little Giant ladders fitted with Rapid Locks, the locks used to adjust the height of each ladder leg. The CPSC says the ladders can suddenly retract if the Rapid Locks are not fully engaged, which creates a fall hazard for the person using the ladder.

What the company has received so far

Little Giant has received 25 reports of ladders retracting, including 19 reports of injuries, according to the CPSC notice. Three of the injury reports involve head injuries, listed as traumatic brain injury, skull fracture, concussion, vision loss, hearing loss and cognitive impairment. The other 16 injury reports cover joint or bone fractures, cuts and bruising.

The company told USA Today that it had identified a very small number of cases in which the locks had not been properly engaged before use, out of more than 3.6 million Rapid Lock ladders sold since 2015, and that it started the voluntary recall with the CPSC out of caution.

Which ladders are included

The recalled models are the Adjustable Fortress 2.0, Conquest 2.0, Dark Horse 2.0, Epic, King Kombo XT, Leveler, MegaLite, MegaLite+, Multi, Quantum and Vector. Only ladders without an orange rectangular QC sticker on the rail above one of the Rapid Locks are included in the recall. A ladder that carries that orange sticker is not part of the recall.

The ladders were sold at Lowes, Costco and other stores across the country, and online at Lowes.com, Amazon.com, Costco.com, LittleGiantLadders.com and other websites, from December 2015 through October 2026. Prices ran from about $100 to about $1,000, so many of the recalled ladders have been in homes and workplaces for years.

What owners should do

The CPSC and the company tell owners to stop using a recalled ladder until they check the recall instructions. Little Giant is providing a free kit with warning labels and instructions through its recall page, and owners can call the company at 866-201-9069 from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mountain Time, Monday through Friday. The recall number is 27-067.

The timing puts the recall in front of millions of households just as ladders come out of garages for gutters, roof work and holiday lights. A ladder that passes the QC sticker check is outside the recall. A ladder without the sticker should stay folded until its owner has read the recall page and fitted the kit.
