India set three world records at the Asian Para Games on Friday, October 23, as Sandeep Singh Maan, Haney and Mona Agarwal won gold with record marks in Aichi-Nagoya, and the team tally passed 100 medals.
Two world records in athletics
Sandeep Singh Maan won the men's 400m T64 final at the Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Nagoya in a world record 52.28 seconds. He finished 0.85 seconds clear of Saudi Arabia's Nour Alsana, who took silver in a season best 53.13. India's Ajay Kumar took bronze in 53.61, a Games record, and China's Huang Ruihua was fourth in a personal best 54.39. Sandeep races in the T44 class and improved his personal best by more than a second. Kumar races in T64, in a combined race that also includes the T42 class.
Haney followed with a world record in the men's javelin throw F37/38 final. His last two throws were 59.72 and 60.49 metres, and the longer one took gold with 1116 Raza points. It broke the 57.81 metre world record set by China's Xia Dong in 2008. Iran's Hormoz Seidikazpounji took silver with a personal best 50.68 metres and 1009 points, and China's Yu Chengjie took bronze with an Asian record 53.66 metres and 943 points. The F37 and F38 classes throw together and rank on Raza points, which is why Seidikazpounji's shorter throw placed above Yu's. Haney's gold was India's 25th of the Games, and with it the team reached 100 medals.
Mona Agarwal adds a third world record
At the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery in Toyota, Mona Agarwal won the women's 50m rifle 3 positions SH1 final with a world record 357.5. The score beat Anna Benson's 356, shot at the Novi Sad World Cup in July 2026, and Lee Yun-ri's Asian record of 355.7, set last month. China's Cuiping Zhang took silver with 353.7 and South Korea's Miyoung Kim bronze with 344.4. Her teammate Avani Lekhara topped qualification with 580-24x, a Games qualification record, but slipped in the final and finished fourth with 333.2.
It was Agarwal's second gold of the Games: on Monday, October 19, she won the 10m air rifle standing SH1 with a Games record 250.0, ahead of Lekhara on 249.6.

India had ended Day 4 on Thursday, October 22 with 88 medals. The 27 golds match India's best gold total at a single Asian Para Games, the 27 won at Hangzhou in 2023.
