Arsenal beat Slavia Prague 2-1 at Fortuna Arena on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in matchday four of the UEFA Champions League league phase. Noni Madueke opened the scoring in the ninth minute and Viktor Gyokeres doubled the lead in the 38th minute. Wiktor Nowak pulled a goal back for Slavia in the 90th minute, but Arsenal held on for the win.

Early breakthrough in Prague

Madueke put Arsenal ahead after only nine minutes. Oskar Kubiak misjudged a high ball, and Madueke ran onto a hooked pass from Gyokeres before sliding the ball past goalkeeper Nazar Domchak. The early goal settled Arsenal on a night when Slavia needed a result at home, and the visitors controlled the scoreboard from that point until the closing minutes.

Gyokeres turned scorer for the second goal in the 38th minute. The move followed a pass from Declan Rice, and Gyokeres played a one-two with Mikel Merino before curling the ball in from a tight angle. Arsenal led 2-0 at half time, with both forwards on the scoresheet and Slavia still looking for a way back into the match.

Late Slavia goal is not enough

Slavia kept the match alive until the final minute of normal time. In the 90th minute, Nowak fired past David Raya from a low centre by David Jurasek to make it 2-1. The goal gave the home crowd a late lift, but it came too late to change the result, and Arsenal closed out the remaining time to take all three points.

What the result means

The win moved Arsenal into third place in the Champions League table, on 10 points from four matches, with three wins from four in this season's competition. Arsenal are also now unbeaten in 10 straight away games in the Champions League, for the first time ever, a run that underlines how hard they have become to beat on the road in Europe.

For Slavia, the defeat continued a difficult European run. Before the match, Slavia were trying to avoid equalling the longest winless run in European Cup history, 23 games, a run stretching back to their debut fixture in the competition in 2007. The Prague side did score late, through Nowak, and they pushed Arsenal to the final whistle, but the two first half goals decided the night.

Arsenal leave Prague with 10 points, third place in the table, and their away run intact. Slavia leave with a late goal and no points, after a match that was settled before half time and only reopened in the 90th minute.
