Key points

  • An overnight Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian city of Belgorod killed two people and injured 13, local authorities said on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
  • Belgorod regional governor Alexander Shuvayev set out the damage in the city.
  • In Russia's Perm region, far to the east, a drone attack damaged an industrial facility and injured five of its workers, regional governor Dmitry Makhonin said on Sunday.

An overnight Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian city of Belgorod killed two people and injured 13, local authorities said on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Another person was killed and one was injured in a village near the town of Shebekino, in the same border region, which brought the night's toll in the region to three people killed and 14 injured.

Belgorod regional governor Alexander Shuvayev set out the damage in the city. "The attack has damaged 30 blocks of flats, 35 cars, four houses, three administrative buildings, eight commercial premises and three social facilities," Shuvayev said. The city of Belgorod sits close to Russia's border with Ukraine, and the region around it has been hit again and again since the start of the war, with Shebekino, near the frontier, among the places most often struck.

A second region reports an attack the same night

In Russia's Perm region, far to the east, a drone attack damaged an industrial facility and injured five of its workers, regional governor Dmitry Makhonin said on Sunday. Emergency services were at the scene and the injured people received the medical help they needed, Makhonin said on the state backed MAX messaging app. He gave no further detail on the nature of the damage. Reuters reported both governors' statements on Sunday morning.

Moscow says it hit a cargo ship and Kharkiv logistics sites

Russia's Defence Ministry said on Sunday that its drones had struck a cargo vessel bound for the Black Sea port of Chornomorsk during an overnight attack. The ministry said the vessel was being used to supply the Ukrainian army. It said Russian forces also hit a logistics centre, a distribution centre and a logistics terminal in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, and that the facilities had been used for storage and distribution of dual use cargo for the Ukrainian military. Reuters said it could not independently verify the Defence Ministry's information.

The first wire reports on Sunday carried no Ukrainian comment on the Belgorod or Perm attacks and no Ukrainian account of the Russian claims about Chornomorsk and Kharkiv. Cross border drone attacks in both directions have become a nightly feature of the war, and regional officials on the Russian side have reported rising damage inside Russia as Ukraine has built longer range drones. The Belgorod toll is one of the heavier single night counts reported in the region this year, and the damage list published by the governor points to a strike that reached deep into residential districts of the city.
