Parma beat Atalanta 3-0 at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo on Monday, November 2, 2026, a result that gave coach Alberto Gilardino his first win in charge and moved his team out of the Serie A relegation zone.

Giovanni Fabbian headed in a Vincent Sierro corner in the 41st minute, Davide Zappacosta turned a cross into his own net two minutes after half time, and Simone Lontani curled in the third goal in the 58th minute. Parma goalkeeper Giovanni Daffara kept out everything Atalanta threw at him, and Flashscore named him man of the match.

Atalanta press, Parma score

Atalanta controlled the first half hour and held 73 percent of the ball in that spell, according to Football Italia. Charles De Ketelaere dragged an early shot wide, forced Daffara into a save at his near post, and then fired just past the far post after running through the defence. Ederson drove a long range shot inches wide, and Nikola Krstovic scuffed another chance past the post.

Parma offered little until the set pieces arrived. Enrico Delprato headed wide from a Sierro corner, and the next corner brought the goal. Sierro swung the ball in on 41 minutes and Fabbian headed home from close range. Daffara then made a sharp save to deny Nicola Zalewski just before half time, and Parma reached the break in front.

Two goals in eleven minutes settle it

The second half started badly for the home side. Zappacosta stretched to cut out a cross from El Bilal Toure in the 47th minute and diverted the ball inside his own left post. Jonathan Rowe wasted two good chances to pull a goal back, and Parma punished him on 58 minutes. Fabbian teed up Lontani, who curled a shot from outside the area into the bottom right corner.

Maurizio Sarri sent on Eljif Elmas, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Lazar Samardzic and Javison Idele, but Daffara held firm. He saved a low drive from Krstovic and a header from the same striker, and Mario Pasalic headed against the crossbar from close range.

What it means

Parma went into the game in the bottom three with five points, after a 0-0 draw with Udinese, and still waiting for a first win under Gilardino. This was also their first away win of the Serie A season, according to Flashscore, and it lifted them out of the relegation zone. Parma host Bologna on Saturday.

Atalanta went into the match 11th with 11 points, in the middle of an injury crisis that left Sarri with only 19 players called up. Gianluca Gaetano and Thomas Kristensen joined a long absence list that already included Raoul Bellanova, Gianluca Scamacca, Giacomo Raspadori, Sead Kolasinac, Franck Kessie, Isak Hien and Odilon Kossounou, while Giorgio Scalvini returned in defence. Atalanta have not won at home since beating Venezia on October 12, and the defeat stretched their winless run in all competitions to five games.
