No. 23 Oregon beat No. 12 Ohio State 41-28 on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Ohio State led 14-0 in the first quarter. Oregon then scored 38 straight points, the longest run any team has put on the Buckeyes in Columbus since Wisconsin in 1999, and held on through two late Ohio State touchdowns.
Ohio State starts fast, then stops
Bo Jackson ran for two touchdowns in the first quarter, and Ohio State led 14-0. Oregon got on the board with a 33-yard field goal by Gage Hurych early in the second quarter. The Buckeyes outplayed Oregon for a quarter and a half, and then their offense stopped moving.
Oregon outgained Ohio State 178 yards to 17 in the second quarter. A fake punt changed the game late in the half. Edge rusher Teitum Tuioti took a direct snap and threw a jump pass to fellow defender Matayo Uiagalelei for 30 yards. Dierre Hill Jr. finished that drive with a nine-yard touchdown run, and Oregon trailed 14-10.
Ohio State quarterback Luke Fahey threw an interception with 1:06 left in the half. Oregon drove to the goal line, and head coach Dan Lanning passed up a field goal with two seconds left. Tight end Jamari Johnson motioned under center, took a direct snap, and scored on a two-yard run on the last play of the half. Oregon led 17-14 at the break.
The run keeps going
Hill scored again early in the third quarter, this time on a 48-yard run, and Oregon led 24-14. Dylan Raiola then threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Dakorien Moore, who caught it one-handed in the corner of the end zone with 6:37 left in the third quarter. Ohio State failed on a fourth down try near midfield, and the Buckeyes were booed in their own stadium.
Raiola hit Brandon Smith for a 15-yard touchdown with 12:02 left in the fourth quarter, after another Ohio State fourth-down failure gave Oregon the ball at the Ohio State 13-yard line. The score was 38-14, and home fans began leaving the stadium.
Ohio State scored twice late. Jeremiah Smith caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Fahey with 3:25 left, and a two-point conversion made it 38-22. Hurych kicked a 40-yard field goal with 1:08 left to push the lead back to 41-22. Nate Roberts caught a 15-yard touchdown pass with 44 seconds left, the two-point try failed, and Oregon knelt out a 41-28 win.
Key numbers
Raiola finished 25 of 40 passing for 257 yards and two touchdowns. Hill scored twice on the ground. Fahey, a true freshman making his second career start in place of injured starter Julian Sayin, finished 36 of 50 for 360 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Jeremiah Smith had 133 receiving yards, most of them after the game was out of reach.
Ohio State was 50-3 at home under head coach Ryan Day before Saturday. The Buckeyes are now 6-3, and this is their first three-loss season since 2011. Oregon is also 6-3, with a 4-2 record in the Big Ten, same as Ohio State.
What it means
Ohio State entered the week at No. 12 in the first College Football Playoff rankings. A home loss by 13 points, a week after a 30-18 loss to USC, leaves the Buckeyes with almost no path to the playoff as an at-large team. Fahey is 0-2 as the starter, and Sayin is out indefinitely with an arm injury.
Oregon keeps a narrow path open. The Ducks were No. 23 in the first playoff rankings, and a Big Ten title would still carry an automatic berth. A road win in Columbus, from 14 points down, is the strongest result on their record.
