LASK Linz beat Slovan Bratislava 4-0 at the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz on Tuesday, November 3, in Matchday 4 of the Champions League league phase. Kasper Jorgensen scored twice in the first half, in the 19th and 37th minutes. Robert Ljubicic added a third in the 44th minute, and Samuel Adeniran scored the fourth in the 48th minute. The half time score was 3-0, and UEFA named Jorgensen Player of the Match.

Jorgensen strikes twice

The home side led in the 19th minute. Jorgensen scored the opening goal, set up by Moses Usor, according to Sky Sports match data. The early goal put Slovan under pressure at a ground where they needed a result after three straight defeats in the competition.

Jorgensen scored again in the 37th minute. His second goal doubled the lead eight minutes before the break and gave him two goals in 18 minutes in the first half. Sky Sports recorded both goals, the first from the Usor assist, as LASK took control of the match in Linz.

Ljubicic and Adeniran finish the job

Ljubicic made it 3-0 in the 44th minute, one minute before half time. The third goal sent LASK in at the break with a lead that matched the balance of the match, with the home side ahead on goals, shots and possession.

Any thought of a Slovan comeback ended three minutes after the restart. Adeniran scored in the 48th minute, from a Sascha Horvath assist, to make it 4-0. The fourth goal came with more than 40 minutes still to play, and the score did not change again before full time.

The numbers behind the win

LASK had 29 shots to Slovan Bratislava's 7, according to match data published by El Botola. The home side also had 60 percent of the possession to Slovan's 40 percent. Those numbers sit behind the 4-0 score: LASK created far more chances, kept the ball for longer, and scored three of their four goals before half time.

Jorgensen's part in the result was recognised by UEFA. The official Player of the Match list for the competition named Jorgensen for this game, after his goals in the 19th and 37th minutes set the result in motion.

What the result means in the league phase

Before the match, LASK were 24th in the league phase table on 3 points from 3 games, and Slovan Bratislava were 36th on 0 points from 3 games, The Sun reported. The win was LASK's second consecutive win in the Champions League. The defeat was Slovan Bratislava's fourth straight loss in the competition, and it left the Slovak side rooted at the bottom of the table.

Slovan played without two Ukrainian players. Forward Mykola Kuharevych was recovering from injury, and midfielder Danylo Ihnatenko was left out of the squad list, 112.ua reported, citing Sport.ua. Their absences were part of a difficult night for the visitors, who conceded in the 19th, 37th, 44th and 48th minutes and did not score.

For LASK, a 4-0 home win, a clean sheet and a Player of the Match award for Jorgensen made this a complete Matchday 4 result in Linz. For Slovan, four defeats from four games leave them at the foot of the table with no points, after a night on which they managed 7 shots to LASK's 29.
