Gonzaga beat Purdue 78-72 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Monday, November 2, 2026. Davis Fogle scored a career-high 22 points for Gonzaga in the Naismith Hall of Fame Series game. It was the season opener for both teams.

Fogle leads a balanced four

Fogle scored his 22 points with 5 rebounds. He went 6 of 18 from the field and 9 of 10 at the free throw line. Xaivian Lee scored 18 points for Gonzaga. Izan Almansa added 11 and Braden Huff scored 10. The four combined for 61 of Gonzaga's 78 points.

Daniel Jacobsen led Purdue with 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting and 7 rebounds. C.J. Cox added 11 points and Antoine West Jr. scored 10. Jacobsen matched Fogle as the game's joint high scorer, but Purdue got less help across the rest of its lineup.

Purdue closes, Gonzaga answers at the line

Gonzaga led 36-33 at halftime and never trailed in the second half. Purdue cut the lead to 68-66 with about 3 minutes left. The Boilermakers never tied the game.

Free throws held the lead. Gonzaga made 26 of 34 free throws in the game. The Bulldogs scored 25 of their 42 second-half points at the line. Purdue shot 5 of 21 from three-point range, a cold night that left the late comeback short of the shots it needed.

A first win in six meetings

The result was Gonzaga's first win over Purdue in six meetings between the schools. Coach Mark Few had lost his previous five games against Purdue. Breaking that run in a season opener, on a neutral court in Las Vegas, gives Gonzaga an early ranked test passed rather than a lesson to absorb.

For Purdue, the opener showed a clear frontcourt lead in Jacobsen and a clear problem to fix. A team that shoots 5 of 21 from three and sends its opponent to the line 34 times leaves itself little room when a game tightens late.

What comes next

Gonzaga hosts New Mexico State on Saturday, November 7. Purdue hosts Valparaiso on Friday. Both teams leave Las Vegas with one game played and a home game next, Gonzaga with the win and Purdue with film on a comeback that got close but never finished.
