Key points

  • Gen.G have signed Lee 'Dambi' Hyuk-kyu and Kim 'MaKo' Myeong-gwan for their 2027 VALORANT Champions Tour roster, the organisation announced on Friday, November 6.
  • Dambi, a duelist, joins from Nongshim RedForce.
  • MaKo, a controller, joins from DRX, where he spent five years.

Gen.G have signed Lee 'Dambi' Hyuk-kyu and Kim 'MaKo' Myeong-gwan for their 2027 VALORANT Champions Tour roster, the organisation announced on Friday, November 6. The two players were unveiled on a livestream on Kim 't3xture' Na-ra's SOOP channel, where they appeared alongside t3xture and Kim 'Karon' Won-tae.

Dambi, a duelist, joins from Nongshim RedForce. He was named most valuable player at Masters Santiago, and his play led Nongshim's runs to the VCT 2026 Pacific Kickoff title and the Masters Santiago title, both completed without a defeat. His departure opened up after Nongshim was not selected as a VCT partner team for 2027.

MaKo, a controller, joins from DRX, where he spent five years. He was named the VCT 2025 Pacific Controller of the Year, and he brings Gen.G a long record of international play at the position the team had to fill first in this rebuild.

What Gen.G said

'We are excited to welcome Masters Santiago MVP, 'Dambi' Hyukgyu Lee to Gen.G VALORANT,' the organisation said in its announcement post. Of MaKo, Gen.G said: 'An established veteran of the scene, 'MaKo' Myeong-Kwan Kim joins Gen.G VALORANT for the 2027 season.'

The roster so far

Gen.G confirmed Karon will remain with the team, so four of the five starting spots are now filled: t3xture, Karon, Dambi and MaKo. The fifth player is still on trial and will be revealed later, and the team has not decided who will lead the roster in game.

Why Gen.G are rebuilding

Gen.G secured partner status for the VCT 2027 circuit revamp, but their 2026 season fell short of the standard the organisation set in 2024. They placed 9th to 10th at the Pacific Kickoff, 11th to 12th in Pacific Stage 1 and 5th to 6th in Pacific Stage 2, and they did not reach any international tournament in 2026. Signing the Masters Santiago MVP and the region's former controller of the year is the clear start of a reset built around players who have already won in the Pacific region.

Two different profiles

Dambi arrives as the headline name. He comes off a season in which he won two titles with Nongshim and took the Masters Santiago MVP award. MaKo arrives with the opposite profile: five years with one team, DRX, and a standing at the controller position that was formally recognised with the 2025 Pacific award. Gen.G are pairing a recent tournament MVP with one of the region's longest-serving controllers, and the pair will play alongside t3xture and Karon, the two returning players who joined them on the reveal stream.

The confirmed announcement closes a story that began on November 3, when Dambi's departure from Nongshim was reported and a move to Gen.G was reported but not confirmed. The signing is now official, and MaKo's arrival, which was not part of the earlier reporting, makes it a two-player start to the rebuild.
