Police said three men were at the gas station when a white SUV pulled in. Three suspects got out of the SUV and started shooting at the men, police said. The suspects then got back into the same white SUV and fled the scene. A 30-year-old man was shot in the neck, police said. He was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he died. A 28-year-old man was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition with gunshot wounds. Another 28-year-old man was shot in the knee. He was taken to Stroger Hospital and was expected to be okay, ABC7 reported, citing Chicago police.
Police had not released the names of the three men in the Sunday reports. They had not announced an arrest, named the suspects beyond the police description, or said what led to the shooting. ABC7 said no other information was available in its Sunday report. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
A second Garfield Park shooting on Saturday
The Kostner Avenue shooting was the second shooting reported in the Garfield Park area on Saturday. Earlier on Saturday afternoon, at about 2:50 p.m., three people were wounded in East Garfield Park, in the 3000 block of West Flournoy Street, police said. CBS News Chicago reported that a 40-year-old woman and two men, ages 41 and 46, were standing in the area when a vehicle approached and someone inside shot at them. The Chicago Focal reported that the 41-year-old man was critically injured and the other two victims were listed in fair condition. Police have not said the two Saturday shootings are connected.
