What the FBI announced in Baltimore

The FBI announced on Friday, October 23, that it is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the people responsible for a mass shooting in East Baltimore, Maryland. The FBI Baltimore Field Office is seeking information from the public about the shooting, which happened on September 16, 2026, near the Douglass Homes housing project.

According to the FBI, Baltimore police responded at about 9:03 p.m. on September 16 to the 200 block of North Caroline Street, near East Fayette Street, after a drive-by shooting. Seven people were shot and injured. The victims ranged in age from 3 to 43, according to 92Q, a Baltimore radio station that reported the reward announcement on Friday.

A 3-year-old boy was paralyzed

The youngest victim, a 3-year-old boy, is paralyzed as a result of his injuries, the FBI said. 92Q reported that the boy was rushed to a hospital in a police patrol car and underwent emergency surgery, and that he suffered life-altering injuries.

The six other victims were a 16-year-old girl, an 18-year-old man, two 20-year-old men, a 21-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, 92Q reported. Their injuries were considered non-life-threatening.

Police recovered a stolen silver Hyundai Elantra in the 1500 block of East 28th Street that investigators believe was used in the shooting, according to the FBI.

What investigators have released

The FBI seeking information page lists the suspects as unknown. The page gives the time, the place and the car investigators recovered, and it does not publish a suspect description, a name or a photo of a person sought in the case. The only vehicle detail released is the stolen silver Hyundai Elantra found in the 1500 block of East 28th Street, which the FBI said is believed to have been used in the mass shooting.

That limited public record is one reason investigators are asking residents to come forward now. A tip does not need to name a suspect to be useful, and the FBI routes tips through its online tip form at tips.fbi.gov and through its call center. The reward is for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individuals responsible, according to the FBI page, which is a higher step than a tip alone.

Rewards and how to send a tip

The FBI reward follows a $7,000 reward previously announced by Metro Crime Stoppers in connection with the investigation, 92Q reported. Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott condemned those responsible after the shooting and urged anyone with information to come forward, and community members called for accountability.

Anyone with information can submit a tip through tips.fbi.gov or call 1-800-CALL-FBI, which is 1-800-225-5324, the FBI said. The investigation remains ongoing, and the FBI has not announced an arrest in the case.
